How many people can you cater for?

We can provide a hog roast for a dinner party of 30 guests to a full wedding banquet for up to 300.

What about food standards / hygiene?

All our staff are qualified in food hygiene, we are registered with NCASS and annually inspected by environmental services.

What alternatives meats do you offer besides pork?

We can cook some beef, turkey, chicken and vegetarian – just ask us and we’ll find a solution

How long will you serve for?

Approximately two hours, this gives everyone a chance to come back for seconds! Any pork that is left, we will leave on platters, along with any remaining bread rolls.

What is the difference between a hog roast and a spit roast?

Hog Roast

Pig sits in a tray and does not turn while it is cooking. Very easy to use great for the novice or part time pig cooker. Good for the hire market because it is so easy to use.

Spit Roast

Pig is mounted on a pole and turns while it is cooking. Very visual, people love to see the pig turning. Spit roasted meat is very tasty and juicier than traditional roasting.

What is the estimated cooking time for a Spit Roast?

This varies and depends on a variety of factors such as, size/weight of meat product, ambient temperature, temperature setting of machine and the wind if cooking outside.

However roughly speaking for every 10kg of meat there is an hour’s cooking time. Therefore for example a 60kg pig would take 6 – 6½ hours. A Whole lamb cooks to perfection in 2-3 hours.

Do you bring tables to serve the food on?

We bring our own trestle tables which are set up with white linen.

Do you need access to power (electrical)?

YES. If you can please provide us with a electrical power point. Just the basic household one is fine. We will bring a extension lead so as long as the point is in range.

When would you need final numbers and menu choice by?

At least 2 weeks prior to event.

If we should decide on hiring the crockery and cutlery from you would your staff be clearing this away?

Included in the price for hiring our plates and cutlery we will clear all of this and take it away dirty.

Do you cook it from raw on site?

Yes, it will be illegal and a big health risk to do it any other way.

How much space does your set up require?

We use a 3 x 3 meters gazebo to work under which accommodates the hog roast machine and working table. If guest numbers exceed 200 we would require double the space in order to accommodate 2 gazebos.

Do you cater for Vegetarians?

YES we do! If you choose one of our buffet menus we will provide a veggie alternative to all the meaty dishes, at no extra charge. Check out our vegetarian offerings on the website.

Can you do a Spit Roast indoors?

Outdoor space for cooking the hog is preferred, but we can do this indoors based on space available. Due to the nature of our machinery (gas operated) there is no smoke and mess, so in theory it works very much like an oven. The only problem would be heat detecting fire alarms. These are found in some indoor spaces and would be a problem seeing that the machines do give off a fair share of heat. Otherwise it will be no problem at all!

How does payment work?

We require a 50% deposit in order to confirm a booking. This can be paid via a cheque or through transferring the money straight into our bank account. As soon as we receive your booking form we will reply with the details on how to pay.

The balance is payable on the day through either a cheque or cash. If you want to do a bank transfer for the balance please make sure to do this in advance as it could take up to 3 days to clear in our account.

How many staff do you provide per function?

This very much depends on number of guests, menu type etc. We will however make sure that you have enough staff to run the event on the day. If you require additional staff to manage the bar, serve drinks or other odd jobs you may need a hand with, we will be happy to supply, please indicate requirement on enquiry form or when you speak to one of our organisers.

Could you provide table linen?

Yes we can, tell us what you require and we will source it for you.

What are the diameters of your roasting machinery, just to make sure we have good access?

184L x 78W x 93H – We would need access of no less than 80cm’s in width and 1.5 meter in height.

What about Health & Safety issues and Public Liability Insurance?

We have all the necessary Health and Hygiene certificates and Public Liability Insurance and a member of NCASS

How far do you travel?

We cover London, the Home Counties and the South East of England. We are happy to travel everywhere within a 2 hour radius of the M25 motorway.
